Four Canadians earn cards as final two rounds of Canadian Tour Q-School washed out in Florida

Despite waiting it out as long as possible for a break in the weather, Canadian Tour tournament officials were forced to wipe out the final two rounds of the Florida Qualifying Tournament on Friday due to torrential rain.

There are likely 16 players not overly disappointed with the merciless wrath Mother Nature displayed the past two days.

Faced with a driving rain that left both Hernando Oaks and Southern Hills Plantation courses unplayable for the final two days, tour officials reluctantly declared the tournament official after 36 holes late Friday.

Wet, wild & winning

Rushing to finish as dark clouds gathered over the Blue Monster, Els made one last birdie for a 6-under 66 and a one-shot lead over Robert Allenby before heavy rain temporarily halted play at Doral.

PING resolves Eye2 iron, wedge controversy with PGA Tour

PING Chairman and CEO John Solheim announced today that PING will waive its rights that prevent the PGA TOUR from prohibiting the use of pre-April 1990 PING EYE2 irons and wedges that do not meet the 2010 Condition of Competition from being played at PGA TOUR professional competitions.

The waiver goes into effect March 29 and applies to the PGA TOUR, Champions Tour and Nationwide Tour. As a result of a request from the USGA, PING will also apply the waiver to the U.S. Open in June. The PGA TOUR will then adopt a Condition of the Competition that does not provide an exception for the pre-April 1990 PING EYE2 irons.

Double celebration
