Rogers Sportsnet, The Golf Channel to broadcast CN Canadian Women's Open

OTTAWA, ON (July 31, 2008 – CN and the Royal Canadian Golf Association (RCGA) today announced the official television broadcast schedule for the 2008 CN Canadian Women’s Open.

Canadian golf fans unable to visit Ottawa Hunt and Golf Club from August 11-17 will be able to catch the excitement coast to coast on Rogers Sportsnet. The event will also be televised on the Golf Channel, bringing Canada’s only LPGA Tour event to a North American audience.

Rogers Sportsnet returns for a third year as host broadcaster for the CN Canadian Women’s Open. Rogers Sportsnet brings an accomplished team of sports broadcasting professionals to the event including commentators Rob Faulds and LPGA Hall of Fame member Judy Rankin in the broadcast booth. Gail Graham, Sandra Post and Dan Murphy will provide on-course reports, with greenside interviews conducted by Sportsnet Connected host Brad Fay.

Rogers Sportsnet will provide national coverage of all four tournament rounds August 14-17 while the Golf Channel will televise weekend action on Saturday, August 16 and Sunday, August 17.

The $2.25 million (US) CN Canadian Women’s Open is set to feature an impressive field which includes defending champion Lorena Ochoa, Annika Sorenstam, Paula Creamer, Morgan Pressel, Suzann Pettersen, Meg Mallon, Cristie Kerr, Se Ri Pak, Inbee Park, Karrie Webb, Natalie Gulbis and Michelle Wie as well as Canadian notables Alena Sharp, Dawn Coe Jones and Lorie Kane.

The event will take place August 11-17 at the Ottawa Hunt and Golf Club coinciding with the 100th anniversary of the club. The Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario (CHEO) has been designated as the official charity of the 2008 CN Canadian Women’s Open.
