Senior Ryder Cup team competition features record number of clubs for 2022

The Senior Ryder Cup team competition is underway for its 23rd season. Canada’s largest men’s team golf competition has added 19 new member golf clubs and 8 clubs that were on a COVID hiatus in the 2021 season, bringing the total to a record 157 member golf clubs – 152 Ontario Clubs, 2 clubs from Quebec and 3 clubs from Western New York. Five member clubs will have two teams playing in the annual competition. This year continues the Senior Ryder Cup’s expansion into Eastern/Northern Ontario and Quebec. Future plans include expansion to 200 member clubs.

Close to 2000 players are participating including most of Ontario’s leading male senior amateur golfers.

The regular season matches conclude in early August followed by five regional playoff events at Bridgewater Country Club, Brockville Country Club, Tangle Creek Golf Club, West Haven G &CC, and Whitevale Golf Club.

Following fourteen hundred plus (1400+) regular season and playoff matches, sixteen club teams will qualify for play in the Senior Ryder Cup Championship to be contested in mid-September at the Walter Travis gem, Lookout Point Country Club, which is celebrating its 100th anniversary this year.

Defending Senior Ryder Cup champion is the team from the Scarboro Golf & Country Club.
