NIKE Air Force 1 lands on the golf course
These days, the word “icon” is casually applied to everything from online video clips to sweet potato pies. By formal definition, however, an icon is a “person who is very successful and admired” or “widely known symbol.” The Nike Air Force 1, which debuted in 1982 and has since served as a canvas for artist and designers of all ilk, indisputably achieves this latter classification. In its mutability, the shoe has become a global street culture standard. But it is the fundamental form of the Air Force 1 that has facilitated its enduring status.
Now, the celebrated shoe is taking its 30-year heritage to the golf course. Designed with lightweight Lunarlon cushioning and waffle-tread Integrated Traction for stability, the Nike Lunar Force 1 G is the latest addition to the Air Force 1 legacy.
Worn on the PGA Tour by Nike athlete Tony Finau, the Nike Lunar Force 1 G will be available April 1 in two colorways (black/white and white/white) at select retailers.
