If adopted last year this rule change might have given Anna Nordqvist and Lexi Thompson major victories.

Fairways columnist Jim Deeks has returned from his self imposed hiatus to let us know that the governing bodies still don’t have this Rules thing quite right.
The new Rules proposals won’t be implemented until January 1, 2019.
I’m not making any predictions – just offering some thoughts on things that could be changed to make the game better, make you a better golfer and give us all greater enjoyment.
If this had been the rule at Oakmont, there would have been no doubt about Dustin Johnson’s score.
The Rules of Golf may be changed by the governing bodies to make them simpler to follow. But most casual players already play by a set of Rules that’s easy to follow. Why not just adopt those?
