UPDATE: Golf courses in Ontario to remain closed until at least June 2nd
Ontario’s closure of outdoor recreational facilities will remain in place until COVID-19 cases decline significantly, the government said Thursday.
Premier Doug Ford announced an extension of the previous Stay at Home order that was set to expire on May 19th. The new date for a possible re-opening is June 2nd.
The release read in part: Despite improvements, key indicators remain high and more time is required before the province can safely lift the Stay-at-Home Order. From May 3 to 9, the provincial cases rate remained very high at 134.9 cases per 100,000 people, and per cent positivity was above the high alert threshold of 2.5 per cent. Hospitalization and ICU admissions also remain too high and well above the peak of wave two.
Based on this data, the government has extended the provincewide Stay-at-Home Order that is set to expire on May 19 until at least June 2, 2021. The impacts of these measures will continue to be evaluated over the coming weeks, with consideration being made to the reopening of outdoor recreational amenities on June 2, subject to current trends continuing.”
I’m not pleased that golf is not open but I get it. As I go out for food and other essentials (LCBO) you don’t have to look far to see the many people that just don’t get the seriousness of this (bleeping) virus.
Doug Ford has a no win job to reel us in. As the numbers went crazy for a third time he sent us to the penalty box to cool off. Just Breathe folks, Breathe! Bring the numbers down.
