CJGA and Durham Junior Golf Tour announce strategic partnership

RICHMOND HILL, ON: The Canadian Junior Golf Association (CJGA) and the Durham Junior Golf Tour (DJGT) are proud to announce a new strategic partnership designed to elevate competitive opportunities, strengthen player development pathways, and expand national and international experiences for junior golfers across Ontario.

This exciting collaboration brings together two organizations committed to growing the game of golf while providing meaningful, merit based opportunities for young athletes to compete, develop, and pursue excellence both on and off the golf course.

Expanded Competitive Pathways & Championship Exemptions

As part of this partnership, DJGT players will now gain access to exclusive exemption opportunities into several of the CJGA’s premier national championships. These exemptions will create a clear, performance driven pathway from regional competition into elite national and international events operated by the CJGA.

The partnership is designed to reward achievement, encourage player progression, and provide aspiring junior golfers with opportunities to compete at increasingly higher levels of competition.

International Team Opportunities for DJGT Athletes

Top DJGT performers will also become eligible for selection to CJGA Team Canada in two prestigious international team competitions:

  • Euro Cup
  • North America Cup

These international experiences will provide young Canadian athletes with world class competition, cultural exchange opportunities, and the honour of representing Canada on some of the game’s biggest international stages.

Unified National Ranking Structure: To support a consistent and transparent merit based system, all DJGT events will now be integrated into the CJGA National Order of Merit ranking platform.

The following classifications will apply:

  • DJGT 18 hole events — recognized as CJGA Tier 3 events
  • DJGT 36 hole & Match Play events — recognized as CJGA Tier 2 events
  • DJGT 54 hole events — recognized as CJGA Tier 1 events

This alignment ensures that DJGT competitors receive meaningful national ranking recognition and valuable Order of Merit points throughout the season.

Co Hosted Championship Events: Both organizations are also committed to developing co hosted tournament opportunities beginning with the:

  • CJGA Ontario Junior Tyler Fyall Memorial Championship — September 19th & 20th

The partnership will continue exploring additional collaborative events and player development initiatives in the future.

A Shared Vision for Junior Golf Growth: Together, the CJGA and DJGT are creating a more connected, accessible, and inspiring competitive landscape for junior golfers across Ontario and Canada. The partnership reflects a shared belief in player development, integrity, opportunity, and the power of junior golf to shape confident, resilient young leaders.

Jeffrey Iceton, President of the Durham Junior Golf Tour, commented: “This partnership lays the foundation for long term collaboration that benefits junior golfers across Ontario and beyond. Partnering with the CJGA strengthens the development pathway for every junior golfer on our tour. Together, we’re creating meaningful, merit based opportunities that help young athletes grow, compete, and experience the game on bigger stages in Canada and around the world.”

Earl Fritz added: “Partnerships such as this are incredibly important for the continued growth of junior golf in Canada. By working together with organizations like the Durham Junior Golf Tour, we are creating stronger opportunities for players and families while helping provide clear developmental pathways for young athletes. The future of junior golf depends on collaboration, and we are proud to see more relationships developing provincially, nationally, and internationally.”

Shayne Dysart further stated: “The CJGA believes strongly in building meaningful partnerships that enhance the junior golf experience for players and families alike. This collaboration with the DJGT represents another important step toward creating a more unified and supportive junior golf environment across Canada. We are seeing tremendous momentum as organizations come together provincially, nationally, and internationally to create opportunities that positively impact the next generation of golfers.”
