The ‘New to Me Tour’ continues with a visit to hilly Duntroon Highlands on the edge of the Niagara Escarpment.
Reviews
Enjoy the relaxed vibe at Batteaux Creek
Stephen Young fashioned this pretty layout on 250 acres, using the Niagara Escarpment as a backdrop and the natural wetlands adjacent to Batteaux Creek to craft a very playable routing.
Parry Sound G&CC is pure Muskoka
This is one of McBroom’s earlier designs and it definitely defines the themes that you see at his other Muskoka projects like Deerhurst, Ridge at Manitou and Rocky Crest.
At Simoro Golf Links, challenge isn’t measured by length
With several tee decks on each hole, Simoro is appropriate for any skill level. Even long bombers will be challenged by the short-game requirements and tricky greens.
A return to Lake St. George
Overall, the course is player friendly and would be fine for any skill level. I plan on a return visit this summer to play the North nine and hopefully get my revenge on a few holes that didn’t treat me well.
Arnie and Jack: Stories of my long friendship with two remarkable men
Charlie Mechem’s book doesn’t pretend to be a groundbreaking investigation of Nicklaus and Palmer. Rather, it’s a very personal glimpse through Mechem’s eyes at the close friendships he’s enjoyed with Arnie and Jack for over fifty years.
Course review: The Nest at Friday Harbour
Very enjoyable. Generally, I love Doug Carrick’s designs and The Nest was no different. Fun to play and you never feel like you got beat up. Probably the best greens we played on this year.
Course review: Muskoka Highlands
Here’s proof that a beautiful, well manicured Muskoka golf course course doesn’t have to be long or expensive to be challenging and plenty of fun.
