Innisfil Creek Golf Course has been closed permanently

Innisfil Creek has announced the permanent closure of the golf course, which is located alongside Highway 400, just north of Highway 89. Owner Nick Torkos posted the following letter on the club’s website:

Dear Innisfil Creek Golf Course Community,

This is a very difficult email for me to share but due to circumstances beyond the golf course’s control, we will be permanently closing Innisfil Creek Golf Course effective immediately.

The Reason Behind the Decision:

The closure has been caused by the Town of Innisfil’s – South Innisfil Creek Drain (SICD) Construction Project.

The purpose of the SICD Project is to reduce flooding in the Town of Innisfil, specifically in the surrounding area and including the Innisfil Creek Golf Course property.

To reduce the risk of severe flooding, the Town of Innisfil needs to widen the South Innisfil Creek by thirty feet and deepen it by an additional three feet.

To achieve this objective, the four key bridges that cross the creek on the course must be removed. Replacing these bridges ( with substantially longer bridges ) and the extensive damage to holes #13, #14, #6, and #9, along with dirt excavations, would be cost-prohibitive for the golf course.

We diligently and exhaustively explored possibilities to achieve the SICD Project’s objectives without resorting to the closure of the course. Unfortunately, it became evident in the end that such a solution was not feasible.

Refund Process:

All prepaids, memberships, and deposits will be refunded in full by the end of February 2024.

Should you have any questions please contact us at info@innisfilcreekgolf.com or by leaving a voicemail at the club. Note we do anticipate a great number of queries so please allow 3-5 business days for a response. We appreciate your understanding during this process.

Appreciation & Acknowledgments:

Innisfil Creek Golf Course has been a treasured part of my family since 2004. My parents, Tom and Sophia, took immense joy in this property and considered it a shared home for all who visited.

Special thanks to founding and long-time golf members, Team Captains, Legends who graced the course. We would also like to thank all of the incredible staff that have been a part of the ICGC family over the years. From our Superintendents, Golf Professionals, and the remarkable 2023 A Team. Note all staff were just made aware of the closure this week and we will do everything in our power to help them find the next chapter in their careers.

To our valued members, guests, and everyone who has been part of our journey, your support has been truly appreciated.

While the course may close, the memories and connections forged here will forever remain.

Sincerely,

Nick Torkos
