Jennifer Jaszek captures PGA of Ontario Women’s Championship

A familiar face topped the leaderboard at the end of the 2020 Women’s Championship at Wyndance Golf Club on September 15th. Jennifer Jaszek, now a five-time champion at the event was the victor after finishing with a 78 on a chilly, windy fall day.

Despite a winning performance, Jennifer was open about her play, saying “to be honest, I struggled for most of the day. I just tried to keep it together for the most part. I’m glad I kept it together on the back nine more so than the front”.

Wyndance Golf Club is known for the howling winds that can turn decent shots into horrible ones, and with that trademark wind gusting as hard as ever – it was a true test for Jennifer and all the women out there trying to take home the title.

With the weather being a major factor, Jennifer had to plan her game accordingly. “Fairways and greens, fairways and greens – the greens are so big here, and with the wind you really have to keep it in the right spot.”

While the wind can certainly cause frustrations, it’s not enough to offset the beautiful views and overall condition of Wyndance. “The greens are great, overall the course is just fantastic” said Jennifer, continuing the high appraisal echoed by her playing partners.

“With my playing partners close, on 18 I was 57 yards out – and I stuck it within 2 feet of the pin. It felt good finishing with a birdie and starting with one too.” Jennifer said when asked about a particular shot that defined her round.

Congratulations Jennifer on your fifth Women’s Championship title, and thank you to Wyndance Golf Club for your support. Impressive course conditions and first-class hosting of our event. The next PGA of Ontario event will be the Assistants’ Zone Championship held at Upper Unionville Golf Club on September 21st and 22nd.
