The 77-player field featured many of Ontario’s top junior golfers, all of whom were looking to take home the championship title from the challenging and beautiful Moorland Course at the Legends Golf Resorts.
Grewal shot a course record 64 in the third round and a final round 68 to push her to 13-under par for the week in just her second LPGA event.
“It would be borderline unfair if he starts putting really good,” U.S. Open champion Wyndham Clark said after finishing second. “I never want to wish ill on anybody, but if starts putting positive each week it’s going to be really hard to beat.”
Selection for the program is based on the athletes’ competitive performances and rankings in the U13, U15, and U17 divisions of the Junior Golf Pathway from the last season.
Duncan Mills of Edmonton, Tiffany Gordon (Calgary), the late Denzil Palmer of Montreal and Kim Locke (Toronto) will be celebrated later this summer for their outstanding contributions to Canadian golf.
Golf Canada’s 2024 Annual Meeting was conducted virtually on Thursday, March 7 with volunteers, staff, member clubs, and industry stakeholders participating.
“Our goal is to build a community hub of First Tee programming offered at a golf course and nearby schools and community centres,” said First Tee – Ontario Program Manger, Amaya Athill.
“Our aim was to craft a shoe that enhances player’s performance on the course but also provides the comfort and style they demand.”
A Texas A&M signee, Borovilos is the fifth ranked junior girl in America, according to JGS, and she was never seriously threatened over the final 18 holes by a field that included 26 top 100 girls.
