“Feels unbelievable,” said Proteau. “I’ve had a few years – seven specifically – since my last win at the national level, and I’ve definitely had some doubts for the last few years if it would happen again.
“It feels amazing,” said the 29-year-old. “Lorie Kane is a Canadian golf legend, so to be on the trophy her name is on is spectacular.”
This event saw participating golfers compete in putting, chipping, and driving competitions, culminating a year-long process, which consisted of 80 qualifying events across Canada and 1,500 junior golfers.
“Everyone wants to win on the PGA TOUR, but I think a bigger goal for me is consistent golf, so just always playing well, always in the hunt. You do that, you’ll eventually end up winning.”

“It still hasn’t quite set in yet,” said Fitzsimmons. “This has definitely been a long-term goal of mine and definitely a dream, so it just feels unreal.”
A total of 26 golfers from four age groups will compete in the 12th edition of the National Junior Skills Challenge which brings together the top-scoring juniors from coast-to-coast.
