Gene Gordon, President of the Senior Ryder Cup (www.seniorrydercup.com) Canada’s largest senior men’s team golf competition, announced that the SRC Board have approved the addition of twelve new member clubs and the return of nine clubs that had been on hiatus during COVID. This brings the number of member clubs to a record 163 clubs that will compete for the Art Stead SRC championship trophy in 2022. The SRC is now, arguably, the largest senior men’s team golf competition in North America.

The twelve new clubs are Cambridge Golf Club; Glendale Golf & Country Club; Hamilton Golf & Country Club; Innerkip Highlands Golf Club; Links of Kent Golf Club; Mitchell Golf & Country Club; National Pines Golf Club; Prescott Golf Club; Sauble Golf & Country Club; Station Creek Golf Club; The Oxford Hills and Whitetail Golf Club.

The nine returning clubs are Bayview Golf & Country Club; Blue Mountain Golf & Country Club; Cedar Brae Golf Club; Heron Point Golf Links; Midland Golf & Country Club; Oakville Golf Club; Peterborough Golf and Country Club; Sarnia Golf & Curling Club; St. Catharines Golf & Country Club.

Gordon added ‘this is the next stage of our controlled expansion of the SRC competition which will see the number of participating clubs capped at 200, within six regions, for the 2023 season.

Incoming 2022 SRC President, Tom Nederpel, announced three of the five regional playoff venues for the 2022 season as Brockville Country Club, Bridgewater Country Club and West Haven Country Club. Locations of the remaining two playoff venues, and the Championship venue, are under negotiation.

The Senior Ryder Cup was created in 1999, with four clubs, to provide a forum for senior male golfers (ages 55+) who enjoy competitive team match play golf. The SRC is a not-for-profit organization, conducted by a dedicated volunteer group of businesspersons for the enjoyment of all member clubs. Over 2500 golfers compete in annual events in order to qualify to represent their golf clubs in the Senior Ryder Cup.
